EMODnet and the European Atlas of the Seas

The EU Atlas of the Seas offers 275 marine data layers, with over 50% coming from EMODnet, with many features including storytelling and teaching resources, in collaboration with professional educators, to engage society in marine data. The EMODnet Secretariat implement the technical development and communication of the EU Atlas of the Seas.

In September 2023, five new predefined maps were released on thematics including, biodiversity, food from the ocean, clean energy and climate change. The EU Atlas of the Seas also released a

new video tutorial that allows users to create their own working space through the MyMaps tool.

On 16 September, the EMODnet Secretariat promoted the EU Atlas of the Seas in collaboration with EU4Ocean at the World Cleanup Day village in Brussels, with many citizens engaged. And, on the

European Maritime Forum , five ‘Maps of the Week’ were published on the Network of European Blue Schools, marine litter and World Cleanup Day, biodiversity, the EU4Ocean Platform and tourism.
