The EuroGOOS Annual General Assembly meeting will bring together all EuroGOOS members, chairs of the EuroGOOS Regional Operational Oceanographic Systems (ROOSes), task teams and working groups, as well as broader stakeholders. The Assembly will start with a special session dedicated to ocean observation planning, data and services, taking place on the afternoon of 31 May, in which EMODnet will participate. The European Maritime Day is the annual meeting point for Europe’s maritime community, with opportunities to network, discuss and forge joint action. The EMODnet Secretariat will be organising a Workshop jointly with Columbus project which will explore ways to better involve industry in marine data initiatives.
MaPSIS International Conference will bring together professionals, policy & decision makers, researchers and other stakeholders to analyse methodologies, best practices and also to integrate maritime issues within environmental planning using open data Infrastructures. Representatives of the Secretariat and of the Chemistry portal will give talks to show how EMODnet can be a valuable source of data and information for MSP practitioners.
The EGU General Assembly 2017 will bring together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary and space sciences. Two oral presentations and one poster will give account the most recent achievements of EMODnet Bathymetry, EMODnet Physics as well as EMODnet Baltic and the Black Sea checkpoints.
This is a meeting restricted to members of the EMODnet Steering Committee.The meeting will take place back to back with the Stakeholder Conference on February 15 (afternoon) and 16 (whole day) at the same venue.

This was the focus of the EMODnet Checkpoints Stakeholder Conference which took place on the 14th and 15th of February 2017, at the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts in Brussels. The importance of marine data in the development of the ‘blue’ economy at local and regional level was discussed at a workshop organised by the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels on 13 October 2016. EMODnet will be present and will demonstrate forthcoming updates, including a new GIS based Map Viewer allowing visualisation of multi-thematic data layers. Further details can be found here.
EMODnet was present at a workshop organised by EuroGOOS in the context of the H2020 project COLUMBUS. The workshop considered the important role of SMEs as intermediary service providers using publicly available marine data resources to create new products and services for the maritime sector. The 3rd Atlantic Stakeholder Platform Conference promoted entrepreneurship and innovation in the Atlantic area. EMODnet are organizing a workshop “Open Data for Blue Growth in the Atlantic Area.” The workshop will consider progress, challenges and opportunities associated with current efforts to streamline the marine knowledge value chain: from observation and collection of marine and coastal data to information, products and services for intermediate and end-users.
