EOOS Conference

21-23 November 2018 | Brussels, Belgium

This event brought together and connected diverse ocean observing stakeholder communities, from science, public authorities, industries including fisheries, energy, transport, and wider society.

The EOOS Conference was all about connecting communities, building on progress made at the EOOS Forum, taking place on 8 March 2018, to present an EOOS strategy and implementation plan, together with a strong call to action. It was an opportunity to showcase ocean observing & monitoring initiatives, network with stakeholders across Europe and help shape the future European Ocean Observing System (EOOS).

The Conference delivered a Call to Action for the EU and European countries to better coordinate and align the various data collection initiatives and work together towards a more concerted, fit for purpose and cost-effective European ocean observing capability.

All presentations, the Call to Action and photos of the event are available online here.

A Conference report will be available in January 2019. Progress of the Conference Call to Action will be evaluated in one year’s time by the members of the Conference advisory committee, with support from the co-organising secretariats.
